Site Update and related news

Postby Oddjob » Tue Aug 10, 2010 6:00 pm

Just wanted to make a post seeing as the site is back up now that we have gotten the hosting straightened out. Thanks to UD for being gracious to handle the hosting bill and allow us to keep the mod alive.

Over the next 2-3 months you will be seeing a site overhaul as Rakshasas and I look to update the site and give it a much more appealing look visually. We will be bringing back a modified justfooty theme in some manner. In case you don't remember what it looks like:

It did an excellent job of capturing the carball colors and spirit in a forum format.

We are going to pick up the UT2004 version of carball again and hopefully come out with a release sometime in the next 2-3 months. I am going to try to push the mod through steam and facebook, two tools we didn't have before. I don't ever expect the mod to go anywhere but it would nice to have at least a small semblance of a community again.

Homer has put in a ton of time and effort into the UT3 version of the mod and there are no plans to alter that and hopefully myself and others will be able to help contribute to that version of the mod in the near future.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or feel you have the right tools to contribute to either version of the mod.

Thanks,

OJ

Ah too play carball again in its peak would be great. I think its probably too late, but steam seems like it would be a awesome tool to use.

I should really visit this site more. I just read this today, and I think it's great we'll be getting a new site, hopefully with some league integration and a bunch of other stuff. I would be glad to lend you guys a hand with this if you need.

Getting back to UT2004 development is just fucking awesome. I am a much bigger fan of the UT2004 physics engine than the UT3 one, so I will definitely be contributing to some bug squashing.I think if we really take a deep look into the odd bounces, duds, etc, we could really get CB to the way it's supposed to be. CB2 is in a very mature state, and it would be a shame to just let it go. I am all for it.

I personally think the site needs a start page like some other games do. One that shows the game etc. to attract people, with a link to the forums the way you guys want the forums to be. Alot of games do it for marketing i think. Just something cool to show off the game and make them want to come talk or see what it is about. :P My two cents.

I like the country verification. Could make different languages for the CB site?
